Cuidadores Latinos Unidos
The purpose of this pilot was to create an innovative, culturally appropriate intervention to improve the health of caregivers of Latino elderly with Alzheimer’s Disease or other cognitive impairments. It was conducted through a partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The intervention was fully integrated into the Latino Geriatric Center. UCC staff took referrals, conducted assessments, delivered programming to caregivers, and used the intervention model. Additionally, Cuidadores Latinos Unidos reached more than 360 people by working directly with caregivers and additional family members at caregiver Celebrando Su Dedicación seminars and through dissemination opportunities.
This project was funded wholly by the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program, a component of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
